The Minnesota Special Compensation Fund makes payments to injured workers whose employers did not have workers compensation insurance. Your claim petition is served on the fund in the same way it would have been served on a private workers comp insurer.
The Fund, along with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry's Investigative Services Unit and the Minnesota Attorney General's Office, is responsible for investigating, identifying, recovering, and penalizing uninsured employers.
